Keeping erections harder and longer

Q: My hard-ons are not as hard as they used to be. Can you give me any tips on how to stay harder longer?



Dating men in my 50’s was surprising. I didn’t realise erectile dysfunction is common with age. I now realise it’s a natural part of a man’s life and not something to be ashamed of.

Don’t pretend it’s not happening & in my experience open communication is key. Anxiety can play a significant role in getting & keeping an erection, so sharing your feelings can alleviate some of the pressure & allow you to enjoy intimacy without focusing solely on penetration.

Also try exploring different forms of intimacy that don't solely rely on intercourse. Embrace more kisses, cuddles & non-penetrative sex. Intimacy can be fulfilling and enjoyable, regardless of whether it leads to orgasm.


It should also be noted that various factors, such as alcohol, recreational drugs, stress, and cardiovascular issues can impact erections. To keep a healthy blood flow, maintain a healthy lifestyle through proper diet, exercise, and weight management. Consider addressing these underlying causes to improve your overall sexual health. Incorporating mindfulness practices into your routine can also help reduce stress and anxiety, ultimately enhancing your overall well-being and sexual experiences.
